Newborn feet in a swaddle

This postpartum doula FAQ answers the questions families ask most. If you do not see yours here, just send a message.

Breathe and Bloom Co. offers overnight and daytime postpartum support in Sacramento. So most questions are about hours, services and how to book.

Postpartum doula FAQ: services and hours

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula offers non-medical support after your baby arrives. That can mean newborn care, feeding help, light household tasks, meals and a calm person to talk to. The goal is simple: so you can rest, heal and feel supported.

What are your overnight hours?

Overnight shifts run from 10 PM to 7 AM. Most shifts are 8 to 9 hours long, so you can get a real stretch of sleep.

Do you offer daytime support too?

Yes. Along with overnight care, Breathe and Bloom Co. offers daytime postpartum services. Daytime visits can include newborn care, meal prep, light tidying and time for mom to rest or shower.

Where do you serve?

Breathe and Bloom Co. is based in Sacramento and serves Sacramento (including Natomas, Midtown, East Sacramento and Land Park), Roseville, Rocklin, Elk Grove and Folsom. I also travel throughout California, so just send a message and ask.

Bottles and pump parts, a common postpartum doula FAQ topic

Feeding and medical questions

Can you help if I am breastfeeding or pumping?

Yes. Support includes help with pumping, bottle feeding and milk storage. A doula does not replace a lactation consultant, so for medical feeding concerns your doctor or an IBCLC is the right call.

Is a postpartum doula a medical provider?

No. A postpartum doula is a non-medical support person. For any health concern about you or your baby, please contact your doctor, midwife or pediatrician.

Postpartum doula FAQ: booking and cost

How much does postpartum doula care cost?

Rates depend on the type of support, the number of shifts and your schedule. Send a message with your due date and needs, and you will get details by email.

When should I book?

Many families reach out during pregnancy, so the schedule is ready before the baby comes. Still, you can reach out any time after birth too. Availability is limited, so earlier is better.

Do you care for twins?

Yes. Dajahane has experience supporting families with twins and understands the extra hands and patience that multiples may need. Send a message about your family to plan the right support.

Is Dajahane certified?

Yes. Dajahane completed Full-Spectrum Doula Certification and Training with the Evergreen Institute of Health and Wellness. She also has CPR training from the American Red Cross and HIPAA training from the North American Learning Institute (NALI).

How do I book?

Call or text 916-639-3634, use the chat button or the contact form, or email breatheandbloom2630@gmail.com. Share your due date or baby's birth date, your area and the kind of help you want.

Still have questions?

That is okay. Every family is different, so a short conversation often helps most. You can use the chat, the contact page or email. Also, you can explore services or follow along on Instagram.
